Frozen Head State Park (2013)

Urethane Foam, Resin, Mixed Media

This installation is a series of sculptures that demonstrates the process of the mind exploiting language for its literal, yet magic realistic connotations.  Frozen Head State Park is a real park found in the state of Tennessee, but its odd name is easily exploitable by the human imagination.  The installation includes the familiar contents of an American state park—a highway sign and a stack of brochures—and linguistic guidance for the mind to explore the literal meaning of words, while simultaneously finding alternative and bizarre meanings.
